The present church was built by Walter Chetwynd to a design attributed to Sir Christopher Wren. This is backed up by the existence of a drawing by Sir Christopher Wren labelled Mr Chetwynd's Tower, now in a collection of Wren drawings in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Walter Chetwynd was a friend of Sir Christopher Wren and both were members of the Royal Society.

British Wildlife Rescue Centre
The Centre is open to the public and boasts an enjoyable and educational display of British birds and animals housed in large aviaries and enclosures with living conditions that are as natural as possible. The centre is suitable for animal lovers of all ages - school and group visits are welcomed.

British Wildlife Rescue Centre is a self-funding charitable organisation; its prime aim is to rescue sick, injured and orphaned wildlife then to rehabilitate and release back to the wild. There are however, because of the nature of their injuries, wildlife that would not survive in the wild. These, together with other specimens that were bred in captivity form the core of the facility.

The centre also takes many small pets and exotic creatures that were abandoned by previous owners; these are housed or lodged and can be seen at the centre until homes can be found.
